🎠The role
Organization
Report to the Head of Finance
Work closely with the CHRO — 25% of your scope covers HR admin
Hybrid position, based in our Paris office
The pitch
Finance is the engine that keeps AssoConnect moving — and this role is at its core.
As Financial Controller, you'll own the day-to-day finance operations: monthly close, reporting, FP&A, cost analysis, and top-line control. You'll be the person who makes sure the numbers are right, delivered on time, and tells a clear story.
And this role has an add-on. Around 20-25% of your scope covers HR admin: running PayFit, managing payroll variables, handling contracts, and absences. Not as an afterthought but as a real part of the job. If you see that as a feature rather than a constraint, you're already thinking like we do.
You'll also bring AI into the mix. We expect you to identify repetitive tasks, automate them, and document the gain. Whether it's Claude, ChatGPT, or your own toolbox — we want someone who moves faster because of it.
You'll report to the Head of Finance and operate in a lean, ambitious team that's scaling across Europe.
Responsibilities
Finance Operations (75%)
Own the monthly close — cut-off, journal entries, and validation — delivered autonomously and on schedule
Produce and deliver group financial reports (P&L & balance sheet) without reminders
Run FP&A — budget vs. actuals by department, with clear variance narratives within agreed deadlines
Manage top-line control — systematically cross-check all issued invoices against active contracts and consumed services before close
Track costs and COGS by department, flag anomalies proactively — before they surface in review
Contribute to audit preparation and statutory reporting
HR Administration (25%)
Own Payroll Software as the single source of truth for payroll and HR admin
Process all variable payroll elements (bonuses, absences, onboarding/offboarding) accurately and on time, every month
Manage contracts, health insurance, and absence tracking — these are fully off the CHRO's plate
Ensure HR reporting and social audits are delivered on time
Continuous Improvement
Proactively identify repetitive processes and automate or accelerate at least 2 via AI within your first 4 months
Document time savings and share learnings with the team
🔧 Required Qualifications
Experience
2 to 4 years of experience in corporate finance, management control, or FP&A
Diploma Bac+4/5 in finance, accounting, management, or business school
Background in a scale-up, structured SMB, or consulting firm (SaaS/tech clients) is strongly valued
The 5 Skills We'll Be Looking For
Management Control / FP&A: You're comfortable owning the full finance perimeter (close, reporting, analysis). You don't just produce numbers, you explain what's behind them.
Rigour & Attention to Detail: You catch errors before anyone else does. You build verification processes, not workarounds. You can cite concrete examples.
Reliability: You deliver on time. Consistently. Month-end is a rhythm for you, not a crisis. You flag blockers early and don’t leave them in a black box.
Autonomy: You take topics end-to-end without supervision. You prioritize well even when no one is watching. You find answers independently.
Adaptability beyond core finance: You genuinely see the HR admin scope as part of the role, not a distraction. You understand why it matters and embrace the dual-hat nature of the position.
Soft Skills
Discretion and confidentiality — you handle sensitive data as a matter of course
Technological curiosity — AI tools are part of your toolkit, not something you're still exploring
Clear communication — written and verbal, with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Proactive on friction — you fix process gaps before they become problems
Comfortable with ambiguity — you move forward even when things aren't perfectly defined
Growth mindset — continuous learning is how you operate
Hard Skills
Essential:
Management control / FP&A
Excel / Google Sheets financial modeling
Monthly close & cut-off
Financial reporting
Cost analysis & COGS
HR admin (contracts, absences, onboarding/offboarding)
Bilingual French/English (written and spoken)
Bonus:
Notion / HRIS tools
AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) — concrete use cases, not just familiarity
Group/holding environment
Multi-entity / interco reconciliations
Payroll process knowledge (PayFit is a plus)
SaaS KPIs (ARR, MRR, churn) — not mandatory, but appreciated
What if I don't match all these criteria?
Not ticking every box is OK: it means you'll have room to learn and grow at AssoConnect. If you think you can be a great match, we're interested in hearing from you!
Salary Range
Varies depending on experience (both years and skills): €42k-€52k
